A clearer, more approachable way to think about investing.

01

See themselves in the investing conversation

Understand that investing is not reserved for Wall Street professionals, finance experts or people who already know all the answers.

02

Understand ownership versus income

Recognize why earning is only one part of the equation—and how ownership can help turn today’s income into tomorrow’s choices.

03

Build long-term security

See how education, thoughtful allocation, automation and staying invested can work together as part of a durable foundation.

04

Create options before retirement

Connect investing with greater flexibility in a career, in everyday life and in the future—not only at traditional retirement age.

05

Go on offense

Leave with a clearer framework for making intentional decisions from a position of strength rather than pressure or need.

Program themes

One flagship message, adapted to the room.

Get in the Game can emphasize the themes most relevant to your audience while preserving one clear journey from participation to ownership and greater choice.

01

Investing Isn’t Just for Wall Street

Too many people remain outside the investing conversation because it feels intimidating, overly technical or designed for someone else. This talk breaks down the psychological and practical barriers that keep everyday people from getting started.

Using approachable examples, Joshua introduces the foundational habits that helped him move from uncertainty to consistent participation: learning what was available to him, making intentional allocation decisions, automating contributions and staying invested over time.

The question this talk addresses:

How can everyday people begin participating in investing without feeling like they need to become financial experts first?

Audiences will explore:
  • Why investing can be more approachable than it first appears
  • How education, allocation, automation and time work together
  • What questions they can begin asking about their own workplace or personal investing options
02

How Investing Created Options, Freedom, and Fulfillment

Investing is often presented as something that matters decades from now. Joshua’s experience taught him that building financial security can also change the choices available along the way.

In this personal, story-driven talk, Joshua shares how consistent investing, career growth, discipline, patience and continued learning helped him create enough financial flexibility to leave Applied Industrial Technologies after 11½ years and pursue work he finds meaningful.

This is not a story about getting rich quickly or escaping work. It is a story about using time, preparation and intentional decisions to build greater choice.

The question this talk addresses:

What can become possible when investing is treated as a tool for building options rather than only a distant retirement goal?

Audiences will explore:
  • The connection between long-term investing and greater flexibility
  • Why discipline, patience and continued learning matter
  • How financial preparation can support more intentional life and career decisions
03

Get in the Game

Knowing that investing matters is not the same as knowing what to do next. Information is everywhere, but without a structure, it can create more confusion than clarity.

This talk introduces Joshua’s four-part framework for moving from uncertainty toward more intentional participation:

Start Where You Are → Build the Foundation → Create Options → Go on Offense

The framework helps audiences think about investing as a progression—not a race, a perfect formula or a collection of disconnected tips.

The question this talk addresses:

How can someone organize what they are learning and identify a practical path forward without trying to do everything at once?

Audiences will explore:
  • How to identify their current starting point
  • Why a sound foundation should come before more aggressive decisions
  • How planning, discipline and avoiding major mistakes can support long-term progress

Why Joshua

Built in real life—not on a trading floor.

Joshua did not develop his perspective as a Wall Street professional. During 11½ years at Applied Industrial Technologies, he educated himself, invested consistently, made mistakes, refined his approach and stayed engaged over time.

That process helped him build greater financial security and enough flexibility to leave Applied at 40 and pursue meaningful work as an author, speaker and educator.

Joshua remembers what it felt like to believe investing was something other people understood. That perspective shapes how he talks about money today: plainly, practically and without pretending everyone starts from the same place.

The framework

A practical way to think about progress.

The Get in the Game framework gives audiences a simple structure for understanding how financial knowledge and investing habits can build upon one another.

It is not a shortcut, a promise of investment returns or a one-size-fits-all formula. It is a way to organize the journey.

01

Start Where You Are

Understand your current position, what opportunities may already be available and what questions you need to begin asking.

02

Build the Foundation

Learn the fundamentals, make intentional allocation decisions, automate where appropriate and give time and consistency a chance to work.

03

Create Options

Use a stronger foundation to think more intentionally about a personal portfolio, future security and the choices you want your money to support.

04

Go on Offense

Continue learning, exercise discipline and patience, manage risk, avoid preventable mistakes and pursue larger goals without abandoning the foundation.

Presentation approach

A practical conversation—not a sales pitch.

Joshua combines personal story with investing education audiences can understand and apply to their own thinking.
